Description
To appreciate a single phenomenon ... you must camp down beside it ... and give yourself utterly to it.
~ Henry David Thoreau [ fr. Journals]

Curry plant (Everlasting flower)
Helichrysum italicum (augustifolium)
Family : Compositae
Bright mustard-coloured flowers top narrow, aromatic, silver leaves on this evergreen perennial, originally from the Mediterranean, now accustomed to a cooler climate.
The leaves can be used for cooking, for flavoring meat dishes, in drinks and in jellies; the curry flavour is mild.
The essential oil is used in cosmetics, and for treating respiratory problems.

On a corner in full sun, about two blocks from home, fairly low to the ground is a large clump of brightly coloured helichrysum which I have walked by "forever" and which I recently realized has grown to quite a splendid size, a visually pleasant spectacle of silver and gold. Whatever rain we tend to get on our coast has not deterred its growth.
This is a new stem, the tiny top of which will one day burst open into a golden floral button. Captured in natural light ... Unedited; uncropped; nature in all its splendour.

Paying close attention to detail... I like it dear Connie. ;-) FV
Connie Handscomb replied:
Thank you, Nick; not much to it, really, yet it exudes a very strong {curry} scent :))

This is one of those colors that you put in rooms where you want calm and peace. Love the simplicity here. Gives you a focus point, but mostly just washes over you with that soothing color.
Connie Handscomb replied:
I think so, too, Joni; it is very soothing .. & also washes over you with a (mild) curry scent :))
