One of the things that has not changed (so far) is our shoreline seawalk, but an interesting development has occurred over the last few weeks. The railway line that runs alongside it is suing our municipality for using it, for apparently not paying them their "rent", and while the seawalk is still enormously popular, there are some signs posted now that let those of us walking the seawall know that we are trespassing.
A railway company in Vancouver had a contentious issue as well a couple of years back, and wanted money from that city, also. There had been a very strong outcry from the public, and petitions, because over the years, the city had allowed three or four blocks of garden allotments to set up along the unused rail line. That's right: the railway line had been derelict for many, many years.
The allotments that came up alongside the old, overgrown, rusted tracks were really grand. People from other cities traveled to view them, too, and enjoy the walk along the allotment garden paths. Great care, planning, and creativity had gone into these allotments. I remember the lilac trees that had been planted there, so beautiful in the springtime! All gone now, the railway company destroyed and uprooted everything. For shame!
Close to home one evening, on our seawalk that still exists for now, the sun setting low in the sky, my original capture painted .... with textures applied

Love this, Connie. Wonderful process. Beautiful light and toes. If this is the seawalk that I have walked, I do so hope that there will be an honorable solution to the ongoing issue so that many will still be able to enjoy it. lf
