Gerbera (African Daisy)
Family : Compositae/Asteraceae (Daisy)
Originating from South Africa, the bright and cheery gerbera is one of the most popular cut flowers in the world. Although he didn't discover the plant, the German botanist Traugott Gerber has the distinction of having his name attached to this bloom. It is a perennial plant that likes the sun, and one that birds, bees and butterflies are attracted to. It grows in a multitude of colours.
Symbolically, this flowers stands for innocence, purity and cheerfulness, as well as beauty.
The gerbera comes in a variety of forms.
* ------------------------------- *
It has been raining heavily the last few days; blustery wet storms have infiltrated our previously fine weather system. Prior to the deluge from the clouds overhead, these golden orange petals were captured on a sunny day and, like the rays above, radiated a warm, floral smile to be enjoyed every day thereafter ... .. no matter the weather. Such a happy bloom!

And beaming I am just taking in this glorious macro, Connie. Nothing quite like the beauty of the Gerbera and you've certainly done it justice. Fav'd for sure.
Connie Handscomb replied:
It certainly is a friendly flower, isn't it... so nice to see you, Rene! I've been off quite a lot, first the summer months' travel .. & some illness at home that has scattered my concentration hugely; so truly grateful for your visits & your ongoing support :))
