Description
Somewhere, there are people to whom we can speak with passion without
having the words catch in our throats.

This image may be a collector's item: in our community, some contentious issues have arisen around future development of our waterfront.
One of them has to do with this small pier, and boat launch, which has been slated for removal. A favorite launch for small watercraft along the seawalk not far from the sailing club (another topic of discussion and dissension),this structure has been here long before I have. This launch is alongside a popular waterfront park, and decisions are being made to maintain this green space area .... by building on it.
Returning home from an evening walk, this image was captured as dusk was settling in, a bit of our well-reknowned Stanley Park on the other side,across the inlet.

Too many beautiful or historic places are going away due to expansion, construction, sprawl, Connie. Wonderful picture and always your trademark great descriptions here. Recently my fourth grade elementary school was torn down to make room for some new tract homes. You live in such a gorgeous part of the earth and even so, have the same issues so commonplace today!.......fav/like

P.S. your work always has a certain unmistakably personal touch and "Connie-esque atmosphere" to it ;))

My heart always skips a beat when I see new images from you dear Connie. WOW!! this one has a peaceful feeling about it. I love the soft subtle light you captured. Wonderful photography on display here. ;-)) FV
Connie Handscomb replied:
Ha ha! it doesn't ... really? Hello to you, dear Nick; I will be taking a break soon (time for munchies) but hope to return later (fingies crossed, sometimes things happen) .. ; pleased you like this, thank you so much! :)) {yes, it is pretty peaceful here, it is a seaside community ... something the developers want to "improve" upon!}

Beautiful, Connie. I love the light, and the historical importance of this local amenity. All too often, the 'improvers' of our cherished locales are wrong in thinking 'change' , when nothing needs changing........I'm hoping for you that this lovely place will be preserved in all its beauty and that your image will make a difference. I've lived by water's edge for many years.....the atmosphere of locals, boats,history, is lifeblood to one's peace of mind. Great quote, too..............fv...............VIVA
Connie Handscomb replied:
VIVA, Hi! Thank you! yes, the "improvers" have sadly become pillaging what is good & what looks to be ... for profit. I had posted an image in the autumn of a wooden bridge in the park, with the changes ongoing there (I've been watching the slow decimation of our beautiful parks!) ... ; looks like our library is on the board for change, too. I could ramble on & on about the cement being poured here ... but I will not; I will just say another warm thank you for your kind words, & your hopes & thoughts for the preservation of our lovely area :))
