Description
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
~ Robert Frost [fr. The Road Not Taken]

Reigate is an historic market town in the North Downs of England, just south of London, and about forty miles north of the seaside resort of Brighton.
One of the first things we do when we return to England is to take a walk around the Priory Park, through the backwoods. This scene was taken on one of those walks, in Reigate, Surrey, England .... a classic scene of the idyllic English countryside.
Just the teensy-est touch of delicate texture has been applied here.

Beautiful. It reminds me of walking in the Spinney in Dorking. The English countryside is truly a photographer's dream and your composition has made it so.
Connie Handscomb replied:
A late reply, Spencer; thank you, yes! Dorking is near by this area so you are spot on .. :))

I had to see this one and spend time with it. Really like the tone choices you have here, but my favorite aspect of this is the framing. I love the emotions the small reveal of what is beyond brings out. Makes me want to walk into the scene to see more. Wonderful work. L/F
Connie Handscomb replied:
Oh, Glenn, that's wonderful! so glad you took the time to tell me that .. it's such a terrific compliment. When I come across a scene like this, I think I subconciously frame it as I look at the vision before me, as if .. as you say ... I am looking Into it. Especially when I am looking at something new that I might never see again: I embed it into my memory banks that way, like a scene from a movie still {I love films.. } because, as you say, beyond .. over there .. is something more, something I hope to move towards :))

This is so special...so gentle the light in the English countryside, beautifully captured....I remember it well...thank you...fv...VIVA
Connie Handscomb replied:
Hello to you, dear VIVA! & thank you! The rolling hills of green are quite gentle . .I find them to be very pacifying; what you remember is likely still there .. not much changes over the years.. thank goodness! ;))

A great chef creates culinary delights with subtle use of spices, Connie. Your use of a wee bit of texture is much the same. Neat to see a wire fence that reminds me of the ones we see on ranches in the great southwest. Idyllic scene indeed!.......FAV / LIKE
Connie Handscomb replied:
Hi Jerry! thank you so much! there aren't many of these, actually .. well, maybe more than I think there are ... thick hedges are used to act as fences , which I find to be so very attractive ...:))
