Description
Much like other cities, there is a long silence in the early morning hours and then, zap! it all happens. People are on the move. Pedestrians are rushing along the walkways, the vehicles seem to have picked up momentum, and the volume of both has increased.
There is much in Cuba that takes one back to an earlier time, such as many of the cars you see here which are primarily vintage American 1950's,some 1940's .. the majority of which still have their original parts. They are kept in pristine working order and, if a part is unavailable, an alternate mechanism is utilized to keep the auto in running order.

stunning. I fear with the lifting of US sanctions that the Cubans will trade in their old cars for modern, fuel-efficient but characterless vehicles. Thus, this old-time scene may recede into the past very rapidly.
Connie Handscomb replied:
Possibly, Andy ... although these classic cars are quite a draw there .. & the posh hotels all use them as taxis; the tourist industry is a main source of income, & the tourists love these cars ; thank you for visiting .. always nice to see you! :))
Kathy Bucari
Wonderful b&w scene. You can feel the excitement of the morning! Great capture, Connie! f/l
Connie Handscomb replied:
Sorry, Kathy, for late reply; this happens to me! sincere thanks to you nonetheless :))
