Doors and windows have fascinated me ever since I was young. They involve an access to other lives, other worlds I may not even be privy to, but which play upon my curiosity and imagination. There are stories connected to each and every one of them, and what I do not know, I can fantasize.
Old doors, in particular, have the added element of rugged textures and no matter how weathered and ancient they become, when they are connected to loving memories, they remain ageless and beautiful in their imperfections ... and often become even more so each passing year. Time holds within it precious memories.
In England, near the pond, an old door ... covered in lush colourful vegetation. We have loved the bright turquoise door. It served a useful purpose (one being that the cats liked to sleep inside on hot days - and even not-so-hot days ... when they weren't on the roof :)
This image edition was edited, the colours withdrawn, to resemble a drawing. Aged, stripped of its brilliance, we still love this old door with its decrepit shutters, and faded charm. It will always remain beautiful to us, reminiscent of happy days, and the nostalgia of good times.

F/L This is lovely. It embodies all the things I love about old, ruined, or gently aging structures. As you said, there are stories to be heard if you listen to the whispers:>) Beautiful idea to make it black and white!
Connie Handscomb replied:
Thank you, Mother Nature! I have several colour versions ... it was the b&w that stirred me most; I'm so pleased you like it! :)
