Without music, life would be a mistake.

The cello (violoncello) came about in the 16th century. It is one of the four stringed instruments in the family of violins considered to be the heart of an orchestra - each of which has only four strings.
The cello has a lyric quality, with a dark resonance. It is valued for carrying a melody in an expressive tone, enriching it by accentuating the rhythm. It provides a foundation for the harmony of the strings. As far as its history goes, it is only fairly recently that the cello was used in jazz music.
One of the delights of Old Havana is the music commonly heard playing on the sunny afternoons. Caught up in the lively spirit of its players, we stopped for a refreshment at an open air cafe so we could listen and enjoy the jazz band playing there. This vibrant red cello caught my eye (the image of which I dabbled with a bit).
