Description
Little by little, I am coming to be aware of the whole of the landscape I am living in.
~ Van Gogh [Letter 611]

Around the time an English farmer's wife named Beatrix Potter was writing The Tale of Peter Rabbit, Nellie Bly was traveling around the world, Rodin was commpleting his sculpture The Thinker, and Norway became independent of Sweden, impressionism began to leave its mark with its bright primary colours. These artists represented light in a different way than their predecessors, capturing its motion and luminance.
As a post-impressionist - where more form and structure and personal emotion is injected into the painting than in impressionism - Vincent van Gogh became one of the most famous painters in history. His brilliant colours and style were like nothing the world had ever seen before. He suffered greatly from depression, and mental instability. He communicated through his paintings (one of his personal symbols was the flower).
Van Gogh's descent into madness was a driving force for his creativity. He became obsessed with the line: a characteristic he developed was the use of obsessive circular strokes, and twisting, snaking lines.
In 2004, scientists were able to see eddies of distant cloud and gas around a star which looked just like Van Gogh's circular style of painting. It is now believed he was somehow able to capture the deepest mysteries of movement, fluidity and light.

To drive on the prairies is to experience spaciousness: wide open areas and rolling blue skies that continue on forever. I was captivated by the brilliance of the yellow crops in the fields under Nature's vivid blue dome. I do not know whether they were canola or rapeseeed - only that the dazzling blaze of bright colour was a marvelous sight to see.
Using one of my original images .... some digital paint applied :)
