I am very partial to lavender for a number of reasons, and our summertime trips to England are not complete without a visit to one of our favorite lavender fields. We do not have to drive far to visit our favorite family-owned certified organic lavender field . This summer past was no exception. We have noticed that the years have brought more and more visitors to the field : the yummy lavender fairy cakes and lavender teas are as popular as the exquisite scent in the air.
Walking through the lavender fields is a great pleasure: the fragrance in the air is a delicious treat as is the steady drone of hundreds of bees buzzing as they feast, all adding to a feeling of peace and well-being. (Lavender oil is both a sedative and an anti-depressant; this could be one of the reasons why some hospitals burn lavender oils in their wards. Legend has it that even lions and tigers become docile with its scent).
Freshly harvested lavender is always available for those who want it; this image was captured of just such a bundle ... and of course, I indulged in this, too :).

Such a dreamy photographic tribute to one of my favorite plants on earth. With their heavenly fragrance and beautiful hues of purple, it is no wonder lavender is so loved around the world! Beautiful capture, Connie! l/f/tw

Ha...what a nice story too...didn't know all the effects it has on people and animals...great dreamy effect here or is it more intoxicating :)
Connie Handscomb replied:
Thank you, Michel! I really wanted to do something with the lavender that was piled on the table.. but unfortunately I'd caught a chunk of a chair on the other side of it, so I played around with the soft effects to hide it! Yes could be intoxicating ... lol .. maybe why we put it on our pillows every night {oil} ; it's become ' a thing' , can't go to sleep without it!;))
