Madrid ... a city of huge palaces, cathedrals, plazas, monuments, and fountains.
The architecture in this beautiful city is truly grand. The tower clock, for example: belongs to an enormous structure, the former Palacio de Correos ie the palacio de communicaciones, also known as the Catedral de las Comunicaciones; in English: the Post Office .
This historic landmark is on central Madrid in the Plaza de la Cibeles. After 2007, the building became Madrid's City Hall: the Cybele Palace. It also headquarters a facility dedicated to culture and the arts.
There are four important, giant buildings on this square, this - the Palacio de Correos - being one of them. The site of this plaza separated the urban section of Madrid the from other areas of the city during the Renaissance, and there is much Renaissance and Neo-Gothic influence in the building's design. Its architect was Antonio Palacios, and it was built through the years 1904-17.
This is a lovely area to stroll and take in the architectural delights of the city, en route to the Museo del Prado, home to the world's greatest collection of Spanish artworks (more commonly known as The Prado).
This area at the junction of the Paseo del Prado and the Call de Alcala, near the Gran Via, is also busy with traffic. This image captures some of it.

Connie Handscomb replied:
Thank you, Janette; although there is night traffic at that location .. there is a 'magical' quality in the air on a summer's night .. I tried to capture some of that :)))
