Anemone
Anemone coronaria (poppy anemone)
Family : Ranunculaceae
There are several species of anemones (about 120) which bloom from spring through until the autumn.
Anemos, in Greek, means wind. The anemone was known as the Daughter Of The Wind because it was believed the wind was responsible for the flowers opening. Ironically, it prefers a protected area away from the wind, the gusts of which can snap its fragile stems.
In the 16th century, John Gerard had twelve different types of anemone Although native to the Mediterranean, at one time in England, it was the most popular garden flower.

There was quite an abundance of anemones on display the day I captured this image ... and the wind really was tossing them around. And then - just for one moment - there was a state of calm.
Captured in natural light; unedited; uncropped .. nature in all its splendour:)
