Our memories of the ocean will linger on, long after our footprints in the sand are gone.

Located on the south coast of England, this 140 year-old iconic landmark in Eastbourne is also a popular seaside destination.
This long Victorian pier (total length 1,000 ft ; 300 m) often filled in for the Brighton pier in cinema productions, such as Agatha Christie's Poirot episode "Jewel Robbery at the Grand Metropolitan" and the film Brighton Rock.
This is a favorite place of mine, often visited en route to Beachy Head. Since this image was taken, a huge fire occurred and much of its dome was destroyed (we were in Switzerland when we heard about this; it shocked us as we had just seen it before we left England). The rebuild is still going on.

Jerome Stumphauzer
Well done; my kind of place! Reminds me of Brighton on the same coast. Jerome
Connie Handscomb replied:
There are some similarities, Jerome .. .though Eastbourne has a pebbly beach, Brighton has sand :))
Andy Lloyd
I love how you've used the sand grasses to break up the action on the beach, which focuses the eye in on the pier. I've never been to Eastbourne - perhaps I should go...
Carl Purcell
I was there many years ago and would love to go back again.
Connie Handscomb replied:
I hope one day you do, Carl; nothing much has changed from many years ago ... {well, except for the rebuild on the pier} ; thank you very much for visiting! :))
