Description
Till Seraphs swing their snowy Hats -
And Saints - to windows run-
To see the little Tippler
Leaning against the Sun -
~ Emily Dickinson
* --------------------------- *
Hyacinth (Hyacinthaceae)
This springtime bulb grows wild in the Mediterranean, in its original colours of violet, blue and white. It was cultivated in the 16th century, and by the 19th century became as collectable as the tulip, and as highly prized.
The fragrance of the hyacinth is bold, and it can grow without soil.
