In Italy, before we got on the boat heading across Lake Como to Bellagio, we strolled the streets of Como for a short while. This interesting doorway(s) and colourful architecture prompted an image capture.
I was interested in finding out more about what these sienna-coloured walls represented. So, it is only recently when I was researching a description for this image that I discovered I had captured the entrance to one of the oldest schools in the world, dating back to the 16th century. This is the entrance to the Pontifico Collegio Gallio, the General College and University in Como.
The 1583 designation above the doorway is not the address I thought it signified, but the year it was built!
