Description
I have never believed that my limitations were in any sense punishments or accidents. If I had held such a view, I could never have expected the strength to overcome them.

Recently we visited a local park down the road (this was before the weeks of daily rain started). Walking along a trail through the forest brings you to rocky cliffs, and a lighthouse. We made our way down to the water; then continued on a path which I thought was a circular route back to the forest trail.
I guess the path had overgrown enormously since our last visit, because it simply disappeared and, reluctant to retrace our steps, we persevered on through thick scrub until somehow we ended up stranded with our heads poking up over tall grasses, and bush, with seemingly no exit except a steep rock face in front of us. We were stuck.
While it did seem daunting, I really didn't want us to become an evening edition local news story. I was sure if we climbed the steep rock wall, we would find the trail. So we persisted, bit by bit. Grabbing every small branch growing on the rough terrain available to me, my camera swinging heavily from my neck, we rappeled the craggy cliff side. It was not a cakewalk, but we did make it to an enormous rock abutment near the top that .. yes! led us to well-traversed trail, then on home.
This tree was captured on a rock abutment overlooking the ocean. Whereas my endurance was close to zero on this outing, it has continued to survive the salty air, buffeting winds and chilling seaspray for several generations.
