Description
Some day, after we have mastered the winds, the waves, the tides, and gravity, we shall harness the energies of love. Then, for a second time in the history of the world man will have discovered fire.
~ Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

Pheasant's Eye Daffodil (old pheasant's eye; poet's daffodil, poet's narcissus, pheasant's eye, findern flower, pinkster lily)
Narcissus poeticus recurvus
Family : Amaryllidaceae
This yellow and white spring bulb goes by many names. Until I researched this particular daffodil, I had no idea it was so reknowned. Thank you, Google!
Legend has it brought to England during the Crusades and it remains the symbol of Findhern, England. This was one of the first daffodils to be cultivated, and today it is prized in the perfume industry for its highly fragrant essential oil.

The darkness was setting in rapidly when I captured this floral, providing the dark background for its fiery heart centre wrestling in vapours of petal love. Unedited; uncropped - nature in all its splendour.

Truth be told, Maria, I went out a second time to capture these, bending low for these is a challenge sometimes; thank you so very, very much! :))

It is a mystery to me how you did this, Connie. Beautiful as ever. FAV.
Connie Handscomb replied:
They (the flowers) really are low to the ground ; I have to admit, I tried several times, Reynold, over a couple of visits to get this .. & oh, I'm so very pleased you like it, thank you! :))
