Arnica Montana ; Mountain Daisy
Family : Asteraceae (Compositae)
This happy, friendly member of the sunflower (daisy) family loves sun and warmth. It can be found in many parts of the world, including North America (it grows wild in the mountainous regions of Canada and Europe). It can grow quite tall, to a height of 30-60cm (1-2 ft).
The herb Arnica montana is famous as a remedy; it has been used medicinally for centuries as an anti-inflammatory, aches and bruises (St. Hildegard wrote about its healing properties in the 12th century), as a direutic, a stimulant, for seasickness, epilepsy, hair growth, and many other uses. It is one of the most commonly used substances in homeopathy.
The leaves and roots can be smoked.

The Daisy has a popular symbolic meaning attached to it: loyal love. He loves me, he loves me not was a game originating in France, where the petals of a daisy were picked off, the last petal remaining representing the truth of the affection returned of a loved one.
