Gaillardia (blanket flower; Indian blanket; brown-eyed susan; firewheel)
Gaillardia aristata Pursh n; Gaillardia pulchella
Family : Asteraceae ; Compositaeae (Sunflower)
A French botanist, Gaillard de Marentonneau, provided this wildflower with its name, and the word Aristata means bearded, which refers to the several bristles on this plant (more noticeable when its seeds fall).
You can see this wildflower on open hillsides and drier areas throughout the summer and autumn, and throughout North America.

The centre of the blooms can be a dartboard red and yellow combination ... or, sometimes, as in this image, they can be a sunny yellow ... Taken in natural light, Nature in all its splendour.
