Description
The best thing one can do when its raining is to let it rain.

Anemone coronaria (poppy anemone)
Family : Ranunculaceae
There are several species of anemones (about 120) which bloom from spring through until the autumn.
Anemos, in Greek, means wind. The anemone was known as the Daughter Of The Wind because it was believed the wind was responsible for the flowers opening. Ironically, it prefers a protected area away from the wind, the gusts of which can snap its fragile stems.
In the 16th century, John Gerard had twelve different types of anemone. At one time in England, it was the most popular garden flower.
Where we live, it tends to rain quite a lot ... especially in the springtime. Anemones open their petals w i d e open to the sun when it is shining. In the evening, or on cloudy days, its petals form a protective blanket (or umbrella) and close inwards. A fuschia pink anemone means "expectation" .... and this little anemone is expecting the sun will dry it off soon ;)
Captured in natural light; unedited; uncropped; nature in all its splendour ..
