Description
I think youll find the only difference between the rich and other people is that the rich have more money.
~ Mary Colum [critic, in an exchange with Ernest Hemingway]

Originally laid out in the18th century by the landscape architect Capability Brown, (reknowned as England's greatest gardener), Sheffield Park in East Sussex is now a National Trust property of 200 acres, which includes woodlands, gardens, and four lakes.
The area is rich in history: Sifeld was a sheep clearing mentioned in the Domesday, Henvry VIII was entertained here in 1538, and by 1700, the Deer Park had been partially formalized. The present house dates from 1779, when Sheffield Park House was remodelled in Gothic style. Cricket was first played at Sheffield Park in 1845.
The lakes at the park are linked by picturesque bridges and cascades. The lakes are man-made.
This is a classic view from the Top Bridge at Sheffield Park Garden, looking over Ten Foot Pond towards Sheffield Park House, a privately owned neo-Gothic mansion. The water looks very green from the lush vegetation surrounding it. And while it looks like it might be a winter scene, with the grey sky overhead, it was actually high summer ... on a day with English drizzle :)

Pure perfection, Connie! I love the history and efforts to preserve such places. I am working on a series of paintings that will feature historic Empire Ranch here in Arizona. My home in Vail is named after the family that owned the 100,000 acre ranch in the 1880s. I'll be posting them in the first and second weeks of 2016. ...........................FAV / LIKE
Connie Handscomb replied:
