Description
I wait for that breeze to move me
And blow me back to that place
Magic space all through me
~ Lyrics from Mistral Wind [music by Heart]

Anemone coronaria (poppy anemone)
Family : Ranunculaceae
There are several species of anemones (about 120) which bloom from spring through until the autumn.
Anemos, in Greek, means wind. The anemone was known as the Daughter Of The Wind because it was believed the wind was responsible for the flowers opening. Ironically, it prefers a protected area away from the wind, the gusts of which can snap its fragile stems.
In the 16th century, John Gerard had twelve different types of anemone. At one time in England, it was the most popular garden flower.
A mistral is a cool, dry breeze.

Poppy anemones are beginning to bloom in our region now. I don't see as many this year as in previous; perhaps they are slow to awaken. I did see one earlier today; where usually there were a cluster of them in that location (a sheltered semi-shaded area in a park), sadly there was only one. Neither have my own proliferated tremendously this spring.

So pretty!! Lovely composition and natural beauty, just love the square!
Connie Handscomb replied:
Hi Rachel! Thank you so much! I'm liking the square very much, should have used it a long time ago! But that's ok, as it was, I was happily into other things :))
