Description
Lake Louise is a beautiful glacial lake in the first national park of Canada, established 1885: Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada.
The bright aquamarine colour of the water comes from the fine-grained, silt sized particles of rock from the grinding of the bedrock in the glacial erosion. It is carried into the lake by the melting water of the glaciers.
At an elevation of 5,020 ft (1530 m), Lake Louise village is the highest community in Canada.
To give you an idea of the popularity of this alpine resort lake: it is known as the Hiking Capital of Canada, the Skiing Capital of Canada, the Romance Capital of Canada, the Diamond in the Wilderness, and the Jewel in the Heart of the Canadian Rockies.
Here is a place to gather yourself together, to collect your centre and equilibrium, to be in harmony with the beauty of Mother Nature. While I didn't capture a grizzly bear while I was here, I did manage to get a smidgeon of a canoe on the clear, tranquil water.
