Eastbourne, a popular seaside destination, is located on the south coast of England. This is a favorite place of mine, often visited en route to Beachy Head.
Films such as Agatha Christie's Poirot episode Jewel Robbery at the Grand Metropolitan" and Brighton Rock were set here.

While this beach scene was really captured on an August afternoon, it does seem hard to believe this was taken in high summer. It may have been a cool spell, after some rainy days; I truly don't remember now. There are no swimsuits here, no flipflops or sunhats, and the beach is relatively quiet. It almost looks like a spring season scene, with people fully clothed, lying on the beach and wading in the water ... impatient for the hot season to arrive.
