The delicate beauty of the maidenhair fern has always entranced me. Its fronds of green float soft as chiffon whether it is in stillness, or wafting in a breeze. Yet, fragile as this plant appears, the stems are tough; they were strong enough to be used in basket-making. They can grow up to 60 cm (almost 24 inches) in length.
My original macro image of the delicate fern, in black and white monochrome; squared .... nature in all its growing splendour :)
