The rose originated in Persia, and comes from one of the oldest known perennial shrubs. There are 10,000+ worldwide.
Roses are equated with romance, peace, and fulfillment. The white rose is the oldest rose, and in Arabic legend, all roses were originally white. During the 20th Century, the white rose has been a symbol of peace.
The world's oldest living rose bush is thought to be 1000 years old: rosa canina (dog rose).

Outside the pretty blue gated entrance to a local allotment garden was a beautiful flowering rosebush.
Captured in the sunlight, my original image doubled, squared ... then toned with a smidgeon of texture for an old-fashioned vintage look.
