Driving through the English countryside brings us neverending delights.
One summertime day, we decided a trip to Lewes was in order. Lewes is an ancient county town in the South Downs of England, near the south coast, with an historic distinction of having had William the Conqueror build a wooden castle there in 1067. The castle was replaced with a stone structure that is still there today.
We would go to Lewes every now and again to do some exploring in the antiquarian bookshop: avid collectors, we were; our bookshelves are too full now.
It was a great summer's day, with sunshine overhead, and the rolling green hills of the Downs offered a panoramic vista of fresh beauty. Outside Lewes, these hills were cap...
