Description
... let there be spaces in your togetherness and let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another but make not a bond of love: let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
~ Kahlil Gibran

Freesia
Freesia refracta
Family : Iridaceae
Although native to South Africa, this flower was named after a German physician, Dr.Friedrich Freese, who first recorded it in Europe in 1786.
Prized for their heady scent - the white blooms have the strongest scent - there are only six species of this plant (but over 300 cultivars!).
Popular in wedding bouquets, this floral symbol means Innocence.

I've recently developed a special fondness for freesia blooms. They are fresh, delicate, with a sweet scent that is noticeable without being overbearing. Their petals hold together with gentle firmness, then open, ever so slightly; they lean casually towards me and away, splaying their green fronds with a whimsical sway.
Captured in natural light ... uncropped; unedited; nature in all its splendour :)
