Description
..... there is an ending, then a beginning, with an important empty or fallow time in between. That is the order of things in nature.

Hydrangea
Hydrangea arborescens
Genus: Hydrangeaceae
This bloom has a history: fossils date it back 65 million years! It likes shady places in the garden or woods.
If the shrub is grown in alkaline soil, the flowers will be pink; if in acidic soil with a PH less than 5.5, they will be blue.
The hydrangea has an unusual characteristic: its stem peels off in seven successive layers of thin, differently coloured bark. 'Seven Barks' is an old Cherokee diuretic and detoxifier, and used to ease muscle sprains and burns. It is also used as a tonic for bladder and kidney ailments; in particular, during the 18th and 19th centuries, it was used for kidney stones.

Captured in natural light; unaltared; unedited .. .nature in all its natural splendour. The dreamy effect the result of a fairly shallow depth of field, and a leaf partially obscuring the entire bloom.
