Description
Time is not a line, but a dimension, like the dimensions of space. If you can bend space you bend time also, and if you knew enough and could move faster than light, you could travel backward in time and exist in two places at once.
~ Margaret Atwood [fr. Cat's Eye]

This was formerly a Royal Palace , with a 1,000 year history. The foundation was laid back in the late 1040's, and the history of the Abbey monastery and the palace are closely linked. What we see today was a rebuild done in the early 1840's, which is why it is called the New Palace of Westminster. Much pride was taken in the work, and signatures have been left on the building from its early days of construction.
This massive building of 19th c. character is on a site that covers eight acres. It has three great towers: at the south end, the square Victoria Tower, and the octagonal spire of the Centre Tower; at the north end is the steep, ornate roof of Big Ben. The Clock Tower, with Big Ben, was a major challenge but once erected, with the big clock raised, it has rung successfully since 1858 [not seen here].
* -------------------- *
What is shown here are the perpendicular gothic detail of a portion of the building. Standing on Westminster Bridge over the River Thames: a side view of the iconic Houses of Parliament, London, England. Also known as the Palace of Westminster, since it was previously the official address of the British Royal Family.
This is what I imagine one would see if one was to travel in the bubble of a time capsule, touching down upon arrival at the site of the ancient, historic architectural icon .... looking towards the modern buildings in the distance, the Future .... seeing both the old and the new, simultaneously, in one magical moment.
