"Dieu et mon droit" : the motto of the British Monarchs
It was first used by Richard the Lionhearted in 1198, and has been the official motto of the British Monarchy since the 15th c.with the belief that victory went to those whom God favoured.
Translations vary somewhat, though basically mean the same thing: "God and my lawful right hand".
