Old cottages such as these enthrall me; I'm always taken with them. When we arrived in Arundel, it seemed I immediately gravitated to this building, and spent some time taking images for my memory book. There was a lovely English cottage garden surrounding this lovely building, too; a double bonus!
Idyllic Arundel was founded soon after the 11th century Norman Conquest. It has been suggested that its name is derived from the Norman-French word for swallow, Arondel; A pr a corruption of Saxon words harhune dell meaning horehound (a type of plant) valley.
