Artist's Description

Architectural Sculpture on County Hall (Westminster Bridge Road side) : London, England

A creation of sculptor Ernest Cole, these Edwardian baroque style architectural sculptures were never titled. Though it was claimed the expressions on the sculptures were quite sour, they became known as 'Benevolence and Humanity'. The stone carvers were Joseph and Peter Induni (1915-21).

The natural warm light from the setting sun added a golden tone which gives the image a vintage look.
