Description
Oftentimes Love is so poorly packaged that when we have sold everything to buy it, we cry in finding all our substance gone and nothing in the tinsel and ribbon.
~ Calvin Miller [fr. The Singer]

Anne of Cleves was one of the more fortunate wives of King Henry VIII (the fourth wife); she was allowed to keep her head! Her marriage to the infamous king was annulled after only six months, and the King provided her with a generous settlement. Part of their settlement was a 15th-century timber-frame house --- a property which she never visited.
This is the property: a medieval Tudor home in Lewes with cobbestone walks and a lovely garden. More focus is on the garden area here; of special interest: it was planted with vegetation commonly used in the 16th century, laid out in a traditional Tudor plan.
The oldest part of this historic house dates back to the late 15th century.
(My artwork titled Comfort - a scene of a bowl of lavender near the kitchen window sill, is from the interior of this home).
The house is operated by the Sussex Archaeology Service.

My original image was provided some digital work and painterly effects ... as well as a creative indulgence with the hues...:)
