The cars in Havana are primarily vintage American 1950's,some 1940's, their vivid colours as bright as the summer sunshine. This brilliant, green coloured vintage car in Havana is very well used, as many of the cars in Cuba are. They are painted and refurbished, and upkept year after year after year, with makeshift parts, improvised if need be to keep them running (although the majority still have their original parts).
There are many in this country who do not have much wealth, yet they are able to appreciate, enjoy and share with each other what they do have. Captured in the heat of a summer's day, this image depicts some of the free spirit and vibrancy of this unique city.

Connie Handscomb replied:
Yes, we were there, Michel ... turned out to be at an historic time, too ... the Americans & Cubans restored their relations while we were there; I think it was also Castro's birthday .... definitely unique; very colourful! ;))
