This wildflower is found worldwide. It is native to North America, commonly found in meadow grasses.
It has been used since ancient times as a medicine plant, and has been called a Herbal Band-Aid. The plant was named in honour of Achilles, who used yarrow for his soldiers' wounds in the Trojan war. Used as a first aid treatment for wounds and nosebleeds: it stops bleeding, moves stagnant blood, prevents and clears blood clots while it tones blood vessels and lowers blood pressure. It is the chemicals Achilletin and achilleine that heal wounds and increase blood coagula...
