Description
Nature uses only the longest threads to weave her patterns, so that each small piece of her fabric reveals the organization of the entire tapestry.

Maidenhair Fern
Adiantum pedatum
Family : Polypodiaceae
"Adiantum" means 'unwetted' ; the fronds of this fern repel water
* ----------------- *
This delicate beauty has always been a favourite fern of mine. Its lush green floats soft as chiffon; there was a small breeze as I sat on a rock next to this one, and leaned in to listen to the whispers the wind and the green fan-shaped fronds shared.
Fragile as this plant appears, the stems are not: they can apparently grow up to 60 cm (almost 24 inches) in length, and were strong enough to be used in basket-making.

Thank you so much, Alan; it was a bit of a challenge with the breeze moving these ultra delicate fronds about so I'm very pleased you like the final result :))
