Chrysanthemum ... in Asia, drunk as a tea [medicinally, for influenza] ; in Japan, celebrated in the Festival Of Happiness ; in China, petals are mixed into a thick soup (the Chinese have grown them for 2,500 years). The white bloom is a symbol of Grace and Elegance.
While white chrysanthemums are used in the teas, I honestly don't know if it is this particular kind or not - it just happens to be the only one I had for the image; the main point is: chrysanthemums are used for more than decoration in the garden.
