Buttercup Witch Hazel (winterhazel)
Corylopsis pauciflora
Family: Hamamelidaceae
These soft pastel yellow coloured blooms are profuse on its small tree in the springtime, tassles of dangling sweet fragrance. In the family of witch hazels, this is a delicate one, for it likes to be sheltered.
While it is native to Asia, it does like a moist soil, and with all the rain we tend to get here, this may be why I have seen this pretty shrub growing and flowering so well here.
The witch hazels I am familiar with do not have these pretty, gentle blooms (what I am more familiar with are unruly blossoms that look like they are having bad hair days). These look less excitable, much tamer. They are of the calm variety :)
Taken in natural light ; uncropped; unaltered : Nature in all its natural splendour.

How harmonically working together this tender image and title, Connie!

The blossoms are so, so tiny, Jenny, I was happy to capture them in macro & make them big; I am so pleased you like them; thank you! :))

It's springtime in western Canada? omg - it was -28C this morning and -39C with windchill. I'm so jealous! Image is still very beautiful even though I'm half frozen here.. .:-D
Connie Handscomb replied:
OMG, Maggie! You may just have to come for a visit here to warm up! I've heard rumours that your area can get wickedly cold .. hard to imagine, when all is green & ... yes, blooming ... here now; my small irises under the plum tree are actually finished .. the plum tree is coming into full blossom now; daffodils, yes; crocuses..... This particular image was taken last year .. or maybe the year before; thank you so much for appreciating their {springtime} beauty :))
