Every now and again we drive a few kilometres south down to the quaint and scenic village of Steveston in Richmond, another municipality of the Metro Vancouver region. It is a fishing village perched on the Fraser River estuary, which flows into the Strait of Georgia.
The village was founded in the 1880's, and is now known historically for its cannery , the Gulf of Georgia Cannery. This cannery was central to Western Canada's fishing industry, and is one of the last of 19th century salmon canneries on British Columbia's coast.
We don't go there to visit the cannery, but to walk along the lengthy boardwalk, and take in some of the atmosphere along the waterfront. There are several restaurants and shops there, and ice cream is a must every visit.
Along Fishermanβs Wharf are fishing boats where you can walk on and buy the daily catch from the Pacific Ocean.
This scene captures the fishing boats you will see moored at the marina.

Lovely, Connie. I can feel the stillness of the morning. Beautifully composed with the gull as the perfect touch, gliding through the stillness. Must try and visit here next time my daughter visits from the East Coast. LF

Thanks so much, Gary! I was lucky β Iβm often not quick enough to capture birds when they come by overhead; Iβm glad you like that I did ;)π
